Cross-border travel is sometimes possible, but does depend on the rental company, vehicle rented, pickup locations - and travel restrictions.Traveling into another country or countries will attract two additional fees.  Some examples are:

1. A one-off cross-border travel fee will be charged to cover the cost of preparing the appropriate documentation. This fee varies across rental companies.

2. Additional insurance cover which is usually based on the number of days spent outside the hiring country. This cost varies across rental companies.

3.  Daily travel abroad fee.

Note that if the travel is allowed - the vehicles are generally not covered for damage on the ferry.
