Car rental insurance and excess reduction products are optional in Australia. If you are looking to reduce your excess amount, you have three options.
1. Purchase Rental Vehicle Excess Insurance from a third-party provider.
2. Purchase supplier excess reduction cover when you pick up the car.
3. Choose to do nothing, as you may have your own cover already. Without any insurance, the suppliers can charge you up to the excess damage amount listed on your Rental Agreement.
